The 30-year-old table tennis player Aruna Quadri is ranked 26th in the world. After reaching the men's singles quarterfinal in 2016 Rio Olympics, Quadri placed first in 2018 ITTF African-Cup beating Egypt's Ahmed Saleh.
Quadri did not drop a point from the first round until the final when he defeated Saleh 4-1 to win his first African Championships title. The achievement marks a remarkable year where he won the 2018 Commonwealth Games and also the Nigerian Open.
Quadri won the outstanding Sportsman of the year award at the 2018 Nigerian Sports Award.
